An Application Partner, often shortened to just "AP", is either a company who creates business software using the Progress 4GL or Progress OpenEdge tools or a company that provides service or support for users of Progress-based applications. A business that creates a fleet management system using Progress 4GL and its database specifically for the friehgt hauling and trucking industry would be considered an Application Partner.
Similarly, a company that troubleshoots, maintains and service the software produces by the above company would be considered an Applicatoin Partner. Progress Software Corporation (PSC), the vendor of the Progress 4GL and OpenEdge tools and platform, has a formal program for software developers who sign up and use their products. Since 1985 PSC has referred to these developer clients as ISVs (independent software vendors), partners, Progress Application Partners, and others. For the purposes of this trade association, our designation of a member company as an Application Partner does not necessarily mean PSC also recognizes that compnay as a Progress Application Parnter. The AP Business Council is independent from and is not in any way sponsored by Progress Software Corporation. The AP Business Council is its own non-profit 501c6 corporation acting as a trade association.
